Summary of Problem:

A customer faced unrealized demand response resources due to aging and failing technologies.

This particular client (we’ll call them Smart Utility) possessed a commercial and industrial demand response solution that was comprised of aging and failing technologies. The risk: they would have unrealized demand response resources during an event and participant dissatisfaction. The determination was made to change the commercial and industrial demand response infrastructure to a strategic, modernized solution. The capabilities of the new initiative would enable demand response solutions far beyond the scope of the current failing system. Results:

Our project management resources leveraged our standardized project plan for system replacement, customizing it slightly to fit the needs of this particular effort. Doing so significantly reduced the amount of overhead time in upfront project planning overhead. This robust approach in the RFP process ensured higher quality and more thorough responses from respondents. It also reduced assessment time and promoted a more transparent view into the supplier’s proposed solutions.
