Brian Dawson, Chairman & CEO
Brian Dawson serves as the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Calico Energy Corporation and is also a co-founder of the Company. Brian has a long history of success in leadership roles within the technology industry with a core focus of leading software development teams domestically as well as internationally.
Prior to Calico, Brian was the Director of Product Development and part of the turnaround management team for StrataGen Systems, a business unit of DDS Wireless (Toronto Stock Exchange: DD). In this role, Brian successfully restructured core development and business processes for his teams in the U.S., Canada, U.K. and Finland that resulted in 20% incremental revenue growth in 2009. As part of the successful turnaround at StrataGen, Brian established a culture of engineering excellence by introducing new training programs and integrating his international teams resulting in increased developer effectiveness and customer satisfaction.
Prior to StrataGen, Brian worked for Microsoft in the SQL Server group working on v1.0 technology around integrating data models between two key product lines within SQL Server. This initiative was deemed to be one of Microsoft’s top four core architectural projects within SQL Server.
Prior to Microsoft, Brian worked at CA (formerly Computer Associates) where he was responsible for managing development and support teams in Santa Barbara, CA and Hyderabad, India was responsible for driving a quality standardization initiative that resulted in executive sponsorship of $250 million over seven years. Over the course of his career, Brian has managed the development and successful shipment of over 30 different products in 22 different languages.
Michael A. Miller, President & Chief Operating Officer
Mike currently serves as President and Chief Operating Officer of Calico Energy Corporation and is one of the original founders of the Company. Mike also serves as Treasurer for the Company and is a member of the Company’s Board of Directors. Prior to Calico, Mike served as Managing Director of Human Capital Partners International (HCPI), an on-demand/SaaS technology company focused on automating human capital business processes.
Previously, Mike was the Senior Vice President of Sales and Business Development for Key Business Services (Key Payroll Online, Key Merchant Services), which provided outsource electronic payment transaction processing and business services nationally, representing more than $10 billion in annual payment transaction volume. Mike joined KeyBank (Key Payroll Online) as part of the acquisition of Payroll Online Corporation in 2005 and served as Senior Vice President of Sales and Business Development, where he oversaw revenue growth of 340% between 2005 and 2008. In 2006, Mike also served as the business leader on the Agile development team for Key Payroll Online’s proprietary web based payroll and human resource platform as well as the sales quote management system.
Mike received his Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science and Economics from Syracuse University. In addition to Calico, Mike currently serves on the Board of Advisors for the Syracuse University College of Arts and Sciences.
Matthew Burkmier – Chief Technology Officer
Matthew currently serves as Chief Technology Officer and Board Director for Calico Energy Corporation. In his role, Matthew drives the overall technology strategy for the company with a core focus on technology solutions that help enhance the efficiency of the energy grid and improve the services that utilities provide to their customers. Matthew successfully led the development efforts for the Company’s proprietary Energy Intelligence Suite platform that is currently in production today.
Matthew joined Calico as part of the merger between Invaluable Technologies, Ltd and Calico, where he served as the President and CEO. He founded the Company in 2004, based on his vision for leveraging technology and innovative engineering to improve Demand Side Management (DSM) and address many challenges utilities face with emerging energy technologies.
Matthew earned his Bachelor’s Degree with Honors in Software Engineering and Architecture from DePaul University and is an active member in the Entrepreneurs Organization of Chicago.
Thomas Doggett - Chief Marketing Officer
Thomas has more than 10 years of experience in managing early stage technology companies. He is passionate about the Cleantech space, renewable energy and helping Calico bring its products to market.Prior to joining Calico Energy, Thomas was a principal at BuzzBee Company, a local marketing consulting firm voted a top 10 company to work for in 2007. While at BuzzBee, Thomas consulted with Fortune 100 companies (including Microsoft, AMD, and Novell) to help them market enterprise-class software products and services, providing guidance on various aspects of marketing strategy. While at BuzzBee, Thomas helped grow the firm by 450%, while leading the business unit to return 3 times more revenue per employee than the firm average, and oversaw the company’s sales efforts.
Prior to BuzzBee, Thomas led the Marketing and Investor Relations team at SAFLINK, a leading publicly-held security and access control software company. While at SAFLINK, he helped to grow the company’s stock from 75 cents per share to more than $7.50. He holds a Masters in Business Administration (M.B.A) in Technology Marketing from Babson College, a Graduate Certificate in Sustainable Business from Bainbridge Graduate Institute, and a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in English and Spanish from the Colorado College.
Cliff Monlux, Senior Vice President of Corporate Development
Cliff Monlux, is a founder of Ramp Equity Partners, an investment and corporate development firm. Cliff has over 25 years experience founding, growing, and selling market leading technology companies. His experience covers private, venture backed and public companies across a broad spectrum of software, Internet, and new media. His clients include companies in markets from enterprise software to media technologies including: Docusign, eNom, and Demand Media. In 2006 Cliff was involved in 5 M&A and financing events valued at over $140,000,000, including the launch of Demand Media with former MySpace CEO Richard Rosenblatt.Prior to Ramp, Cliff was the founder, CEO and later Chairman of CapitalStream creating market leading web-based front office automation solutions for banks and finance companies. With over $50M in venture finance, its clients include: Bank of America, GE, Fleet, Merrill Lynch and more.(acquired by HCL) He also was co-founder and CEO of WorkWise, which developed and marketed a human resource application called Employee File, now sold by ADP. WorkWise also created the market leading Alerting and EAI technology for small/mid-enterprise companies sold through software companies like Best, and Computer Associates. WorkWise was acquired by Oralis/VerticalNet. Cliff serves as an advisor and board member for several energy and technology companies in the northwest.
